Minor scale
The minor scale is a diatonic scale that is built on the sixth degree of the major scale. It is characterized by its lowered third, sixth, and seventh degrees, giving it a 'sad' or 'melancholic' sound. There are three types of minor scales:
Natural minor
The natural minor scale is the most common form of the minor scale. It is built on the sixth degree of the major scale and follows the pattern: whole, half, whole, whole, half, whole, whole.
For example, in the key of A minor, the natural minor scale would be:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A
Harmonic minor
The harmonic minor scale is a variation of the natural minor scale. It is built on the sixth degree of the major scale and follows the pattern: whole, half, whole, whole, half, augmented second, half.
For example, in the key of A minor, the harmonic minor scale would be:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G#, A
Melodic minor
The melodic minor scale is another variation of the natural minor scale. This scale is not covered in the Wimprovise App. It is built on the sixth degree of the major scale and follows the pattern: whole, half, whole, whole, whole, whole, half.
For example, in the key of A minor, the melodic minor scale would be:
A, B, C, D, E, F#, G#, A
